“Always be yourself, unless you are a dragon and then always be a dragon".

The art of profiling comes to the fore strongly in my portrayal of people.  I try to reveal the essence of a person enjoying simple pleasures in life such as reading a book in a certain place of their own choice.  

The question probes as to why that person chose that particular place, book and light.

I further try to portray the interaction and the effect of what people think, rather than of what they do.

I enjoy painting still life pictures that are impressionistic rather than realistic, as it enables me to escape from the harsh reality of my vocation where I tend to face hard facts and talk cynically. 

A rich sense of colour and shading enlivens each work.
