  • Art group started in the early 2000s when 3 friends started to paint together in their free time.
  • Currently the group consists of 8 members who get together Saturday mornings to paint. These get-togethers provide the opportunity for artistic expression to function as a form of escapism from the grind of professional life.
  • The concept of getting together to live our art evolved from a wish to be creative in an informal way, but to still be part of human-ness and sharing.
  • In addition to propositional thought, people can also think in an imaginary mode – to think visually. We can retrieve past perceptions and apply them to produce creative work, whether realistic or abstract. Creative thinking brings excitement into our everyday lives and makes us look at the world around us differently. We become more aware of shapes, the intensity of colours, sounds and movement. Against this background, we as a group believe that all people can be creative in some way or the other. There is no error when trying something new; we all learn from one another and avoid ‘idea killers’ such as ‘it is not feasible’ or ‘I cannot paint/draw’.
  • Each member has his/her preferred genre, e.g. landscapes, seascapes, portraits, mystical figures, which they then paint in their own signature style.
  • We escape into this enriching world whenever we are able to put work, troubles, duties and other challenges aside and join our Art Friends.
  • While Saturday art get-togethers are fun and relaxing, group members seriously encourage and challenge one another to be creative, to experiment with new techniques, to discover hidden talents and produce not only beautiful images, but powerful emotions as time goes by…
