I admire symmetry, intense original colours and beauty.

I often paint a portrait where the person reflects on a rich hidden and somewhat mysterious past, thereby evoking a specific emotion in the person who looks at my art. To do this, I often combine portraits with the reflections of those pasts, mythical animals, or real memory snatches.

I love my mother tongue, Afrikaans, and when I combine it with a delicious sense of humour and a knack for story-telling, I manage to evoke the emotions so evident in my painting and the colour mixes and combinations.

The experience of having worked with people for many years has led to a unique understanding of the human psyche, which I try to project into my portraying of people.
