I really enjoy emphasizing contradictions such as the little Indian girl who is essentially very happy even though she is very poor. Her deep maroon and orange headscarf is rich in colour in contrast to her somewhat dirty nails. I particularly concentrate on studying the old masters who painted older people with telling expressions... I like painting seascapes where storm and thunder bring a quiet restfulness to the soul and I love experimenting with new media. |
